Valentine's Day Surprise for Your College Student – Sweet Treats!
Valentine’s Day is almost here—send your student a sweet surprise! Whether it’s a cozy late-night snack or a mid-day pick-me-up, a treat delivered to their door is always a win. Go classic with Insomnia Cookies or Edible Arrangements, mix it up with Crumbl’s rotating flavors, or try The Baked Bear for a custom ice cream sandwich. For something extra special, Sweet T’s Delectables offers amazing local cupcakes, cookies, and Valentine’s Day treats.
As a senior, I can say there’s nothing better than a surprise from home—especially when life gets busy. Your student will love the gesture (and maybe even share their snacks this time!).

Big Wins On and Off the Court: Coach Dawn Staley’s Historic Extension
I’ve got exciting news from campus—USC’s Board of Trustees has extended women’s basketball head coach Dawn Staley’s contract through the 2029-30 season. Not only is she staying with us for the long haul, but her new contract also makes history: she’s now the highest-paid women’s college basketball coach ever, with a total deal of $25.25 million.
Coach Staley has been an incredible leader for the program, and this extension is a well-deserved recognition of everything she’s accomplished. If you haven’t been to a game yet, this is the perfect excuse to check one out—your student might roll their eyes, but it’s worth it to see some of the best basketball in the country!

Gamecock Fam—More Ubers & Student Org Funding Coming Your Way!
Big news from USC’s Student Senate this week—two major bills just passed, one updating the student government budget and another allocating funds to student orgs. First up, the Uber Discount program just got a major financial boost, thanks to $13,000 in donations from the Police Department. Since there was already $5,000 set aside for it in the budget, this bill simply makes it official so Student Body Treasurer Reese Lycan can actually use the funds. Long story short? More discounted Uber rides for students—so no excuses for not making it back home safely after a night out (or, you know, late-night Cookout runs).
The second bill approved $27,151.95 in funding for a bunch of student orgs, including Gamecock Robotics ($6,626.87), Carolina Competitive Dance Club ($2,530), and even the Charcuties Club ($424.29)—because clearly, Gamecocks take their cheese boards very seriously. Gamecocks, check your emails, and get ready to put those dollars to good use!
