Step Into Something New: Columbia Girls Who Walk

Gamecocks, if your looking to get out and be active, Columbia Girls Who Walk is a great option. This girls-only walking group meets weekly for a relaxed two-mile stroll around Columbia – a nice break from the usual college grind. I have friends who do it, and I’d love to join a few walks myself. I wish I had known about this as a freshman because I would have loved to get out there and meet more people! You can join through their GroupMe or check out their Facebook page for more details.

It’s a fun way to get some fresh air, meet new people, and maybe even skip that early morning lecture!

Finn’s Farm: A Fresh New Gamecock Hangout!

Exciting news for all you Gamecock families — there’s a new project brewing (pun intended) near Williams-Brice Stadium! The old River Rat Brewery space is being transformed into Finn’s Farm, and trust me, it’s about to become the spot. This new venture comes from Akera Sellers, the brains behind some of Columbia’s favorite coffee hangouts, Drip in Five Points, and Brickhouse in West Columbia. The star of the show? A fabulous new restaurant-café called Harvest Café, where your student can grab everything from coffee to cocktails, plus delicious food. And let’s not forget — it’ll have a rooftop with a killer view of the stadium. Imagine tailgating vibes but classier (and hopefully with better snacks).

As someone who spent too much time in Five Points studying (or, let’s be honest, people-watching), I can confidently say this is going to be a game-changer. Whether you're gearing up for game day or just need a new go-to coffee spot, Harvest Café will be the perfect place to hang out and recharge. Keep an eye out for this one; I’ll be there scouting out the best seats!

GATHER COLA: Columbia’s New Hot Spot for Students, Parents, and Foodies Alike

Columbia is about to level up in a big way! GATHER COLA is coming to the BullStreet District in late 2025. Picture an open-air food hall packed with nine food vendors serving up everything from local favorites to international flavors, plus two bars (one with rooftop city views—hello, parent weekend plans!). It’s not just about food, though—there will be pop-up retail spaces, live entertainment, and a massive outdoor gathering space perfect for meeting up before a game or a casual night out.

For USC students, this is about to be your new go-to hangout spot, whether you’re grabbing a bite between classes or settling in with friends for a fun night out. And parents, if you’re looking for a fun, relaxed place to take your student when you visit, GATHER COLA will have something for everyone—think cool local shops, live events, and plenty of space to kick back and soak in Columbia’s energy. With construction starting now, this space will be well worth the wait. Keep an eye on The BullStreet District—it’s shaping up to be the place to be!
