Mobile CarolinaCards Are Coming! Plus, USC Campus & Academic Updates
Big updates from the Board of Trustees meeting—and don’t worry, I’ve got the highlights! Mobile CarolinaCards are coming, meaning no more scrambling to find your student ID. The board also approved new degree programs, including a B.A. in Communications and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in AI for Business.
On campus, the School of Medicine is on track for Fall 2027, and Russell House and McBryde renovations are moving forward, with McBryde now set to hold 900 beds instead of 650. The board also honored Student Body President Patton Byars before he passed the torch to President-Elect Courtney Tkacs. And in true USC fashion, President Amiridis even threw in some Greek philosophy during his financial report—because why not? The next board meeting is April 23, so stay tuned for more updates!

Gamecock Football is Back! Spring Game Kicks Off This Week at Williams-Brice
Gamecock football is back this week (well, sort of)! 🏈 The annual Spring Game is happening this Friday, April 18, at 7:30 PM at Williams-Brice Stadium, giving us our first glimpse of the team before the real season kicks off. Whether you’re there to scout the lineup or just in it for the stadium vibes (and maybe a little tailgating practice), it’s always a fun night under the lights. Plus, it’s the perfect excuse to throw on your garnet and black before fall rolls around.
For parents, this is a great reason to visit and soak up the Gamecock energy—just don’t be surprised if your student suddenly insists on a celebratory post-game dinner (on you, of course). And for students, if you’ve been missing football Saturdays, this is your preseason warm-up. Williams-Brice will be rocking, and you won’t want to miss it

Carnival Before the Cram: Don’t Miss Cocky’s End-of-Semester Bash
If you need one last burst of fun before diving into finals, Cocky Carnival is where it’s at. Happening Wednesday, April 16, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., this free event is all about celebrating the end of the semester with food, games, entertainment, and of course—Cocky himself. It's not just a good time; it's also a great way to learn about the awesome support services available to students (in between grabbing snacks and winning prizes, of course).
Parents, if your student claims they’re “too busy” to go—just remind them it's basically a study break disguised as a party. 😉 With giveaways, a scavenger hunt, and helpful info from Student Health and the Gamecock CommUnity Shop, it’s a fun and low-key way to connect before the stress of exams kicks in. Tell them to bring their friends and make the most of it!
